What to expect?

With this street art bike tour of Bologna we want to go off the beaten track to explore the underground side of the city. Street art began to spread in Bologna in the 1980s: the turning point came in 1984, when the city hosted an exhibition dedicated to New York graffiti art. From that moment on street art exploded in Bologna, and examples of murals and graffiti began to multiply in various areas of the city.

Another crucial moment in the history of Bolognese street art was 2016. This year was marked by the cancellation of Blu's murals by the artist himself, who was protesting against the musealisation of this art form.

During the tour we show you the works of various street artists, from the most recent to the historic murals of the 1980s, both in the city centre and in the suburbs. The university area for instance, including Piazza Verdi and Via Zamboni, is home to the famous and colourful work by Luís Gutiérrez, entitled "500 Years since the Conquest of America", dating back to 1988, while Piazza Azzarita hosts Levalet's ninjas made with the collage technique.

Moving to the outskirts of the city, particularly the Porto and Bolognina districts, you can see some works by Hitnes, Cuoghi Corsello, Daim, Andreco and many other internationally renowned artists.
