What to expect?

If you think Pignoletto is “just a sparkling white wine,” get ready to change your mind. During this tour, you’ll dive into the ancient history of Bolognese vineyards, rooted in the Etruscan era and later developed by the Romans.

You’ll learn that the Bologna Hills are known for much more than Pignoletto: this area hosts a fascinating mix of grape varieties — from whites like Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Riesling Italico and Chardonnay, to reds like Barbera, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Many of these grapes didn’t originate here, but have found their ideal home thanks to the hills and the climate that help them thrive.

And that’s when the fun begins: two tastings in selected wine bars in the historic center, where wine isn’t just poured… it’s told. With different glasses, surprising aromas and tempting little bites, you’ll gradually discover which wines win you over.

And between one sip and the next, you’ll also visit some of Bologna’s symbolic spots: the quiet charm of the Jewish Ghetto, the harmony of Piazza Santo Stefano, and the unmistakable outline of the Two Towers accompanying you along part of the route.

A tour designed for those who love wine, who love Bologna… and who know that cycling is even more enjoyable after a good glass. Don’t worry: we won’t send you back zig-zagging; between one tasting and the next there’s food, conversation, laughter… and straight, steady pedalling. Cycling yes, but safely.
