What to expect?

The first stop is Giardini Margherita, the city’s most popular park, with wide, shaded avenues that make the ride pleasant right from the start. It’s the point where Bologna changes pace and the city gives way to nature.

From here, the route climbs to San Michele in Bosco, one of the most beloved viewpoints for locals. This is where the magic of the hills truly reveals itself: a wide view opens over the red rooftops, the medieval towers and the plain stretching all the way to the horizon.

The climb continues toward Villa Ghigi Park, a natural oasis where paths wind through meadows, fruit trees and small scenic corners that change at every turn. It’s a gentle ride, perfect for enjoying a breath of nature without straying too far from the city.

The final ascent leads to the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca, which gradually appears as you gain altitude. Reaching it by e-bike is always a small thrill: the sanctuary dominates the hilltop, and from up there the view over Bologna is bright and peaceful.

The tour then heads back toward the city centre with a pleasant descent, bringing you gently back to town after exploring some of the most scenic spots on Bologna’s hills.

To participate in this tour, we recommend that you bring a backpack, a 1-litre bottle of water and energy bars. Before setting off, have a light meal, and choose comfortable, sporty clothing: trousers with a pad, bike gloves, sunglasses or technical glasses and a light, waterproof jacket.
